Terms And Conditions
Last updated 10 August 2026.
These terms cover your use of toolsque.com. Using the site means accepting them. They are written to be read rather than skimmed, and the two that matter most are the ones about estimates and about advice, so those come first.
What this site is
Toolsque provides free calculators for construction estimating, pricing, break-even, freelance rates and tax, a set of QR code generators and readers, written guides, and a small number of downloadable spreadsheets. There is no account, no subscription and nothing to buy.
The calculators run in your browser. Figures you enter are processed on your own device and are not sent to us or stored. The privacy policy covers that in detail.
Every result is an estimate
This is the important clause. Each calculator applies a stated formula to the numbers you type. It knows nothing about your project, your business, your jurisdiction or your circumstances, and it cannot tell whether the inputs you gave it are right.
A material take-off assumes your measurements and your waste factor are correct. A break-even figure is only as good as your classification of fixed and variable costs. A tax estimate is federal, approximate, and ignores state rules, credits and anything specific to you. A span or stair check compares your numbers against a published table; it is not a structural calculation and it is not an approval.
Check the output before you rely on it. For anything that gets built, quoted, filed or signed, have it verified by someone qualified and, where relevant, by the authority with jurisdiction. The formula used by each tool is printed on its page precisely so you can audit the arithmetic instead of trusting it.
Not professional advice
Nothing on this site is financial, tax, legal, accounting, structural or engineering advice, and using it creates no professional relationship of any kind. The guides describe general practice and common errors. They are not tailored to you, and general information is not a substitute for advice from someone who has looked at your actual situation.
References to standards such as the International Residential Code, UK Approved Document K or ISO/IEC 18004 are provided for orientation. Standards are revised, local amendments apply, and the version that governs your work is the one your building control body or regulator enforces, not the one summarised here.
Spreadsheet downloads
Some pages offer an Excel file in exchange for an email address. You may use those files for your own business or personal purposes, including commercially, and you may modify them. You may not resell them or redistribute them as your own product.
They are supplied as they are, with no warranty. Formulas in a spreadsheet can be broken by editing, by a different version of Excel, or by a locale that treats separators differently. Check the arithmetic before relying on a figure that comes out of one.
Acceptable use
Use the site normally. Do not attempt to break it, scrape it at a rate that degrades it for other people, bypass technical restrictions, or use it to process content that is unlawful. Automated bulk use of the tools is not what they are for.
The QR tools decode whatever you give them. Do not use them to read codes you have no right to read, and remember that a WiFi QR code contains a password in plain text.
Who owns what
The calculators, their code, the written guides and the design of the site belong to Toolsque, except where stated otherwise. You may link to any page freely, and quoting a short passage with attribution is fine. Copying a calculator, or republishing a guide in substance, is not.
Your figures are yours. We never receive them, so we have no claim over them and nothing to license. Anything you generate with the tools, including QR codes you create here, is yours to use.
Trademarks and product names belonging to other people remain theirs. Naming a standard, a platform or a piece of software does not imply any endorsement or affiliation.
Advertising and third-party links
The site is intended to be supported by advertising, which may include Google AdSense. Advertisements are selected by the advertising network, not by us, and an advert appearing here is not a recommendation.
Links to other websites are provided because they may be useful. We do not control them and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or practices. Following an external link is at your own discretion.
Availability
This is a free service and it comes with no uptime commitment. Tools may be changed, corrected or withdrawn without notice, which includes fixing a formula that turns out to be wrong. If you find an error, please report it through the contact page; a reproducible arithmetic bug is treated as a priority because it affects everyone using that tool.
Liability
The site and everything on it is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind, including any implied warranty that a tool is accurate, fit for a particular purpose or free from error.
To the extent the law allows, Toolsque is not liable for loss arising from use of the site or reliance on anything produced by it, including a quote that turned out to be too low, materials ordered short or long, a tax figure that differed from your eventual liability, or work that failed inspection. Nothing here excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.
Because the service is free and no data is collected from the tools themselves, this is not a limitation dressed up as a bargain: it is a statement that a browser calculator cannot carry the risk of a decision only you have the full facts for.
Changes
These terms may be updated. The date at the top changes when they do, and continued use after a change means you accept the revised version.
